To invoke the Bushco vernacular, you're either for a full and complete investigation into the intelligence failures surrounding 9/11, or you are against it. Given the continued stonewalling of the Bushies, you have to wonder which side they are on. But don't take my word for it. Lori Van Auken, part of a group of 9/11 widows who have been critical of the handling of the investigation, had this to say, "If you're proud of your actions, you explain what happened. If you're not proud, you do it behind closed doors with two commissioners for one hour."
And regarding the speculation that Shrub will be making his acceptance speech for the Republican nomination in New York from ground zero, David Pototari, co-director of September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, says, "It's a symbol of failure. The president is charged with defending this country, and literally nothing was done during the two hours of attack to defend the county. I've never been able to understand how Republicans have turned this tragedy into a victory."
For another perspective on the monumentally arrogant decision to hold the Republican convention in New York, see this installment of "This Modern World."
